Polyurethane Floor Finishes
Polyurethane is the most hard wearing product and is more resistant to scratches and dents. Finishes can be matt, low sheen, satin and gloss.
Moisture Cured Polyurethane
Moisture-cured polyurethane is the most common product used by most floor sanding companies. It is hard wearing and more resistant to scratches and dents.
Waterborne polyurethane has more of a natural finish where it enhances the wood. Although this has a much more natural appearance and almost no smell.
Types of Finishes
Lo Sheen has a softer look and does not highlight faults in old floorboards as a gloss finish would. Lo Sheen does not show up dust as much and has less of a sheen than the satin.
Like the low sheen finish, Satin does not highlight faults in old floorboards. Satin does have an element of gloss.
Gloss is an attractive finish however needs more care than satin or low sheen finish.
A natural look that enhances the floor but does require more upkeep than polyurethane.
